System updates
Accessing the .OVA Cluster Nodes
Within your On-Prem Hypervisor, determine the Control\Manager Cluster Node and the IP Address associated. Then using that IP Address from a Browser access the Cluster Management page.
It’s suggested to perform .OVA Cluster Nodes Updates during non-Business hours.
While currently logged in sessions should not be impacted during an update, any new sessions could be impacted.
View current versions
Within the On-Premises Cluster Management tool, there is a section for System Updates.
From here, you can view the following:
The current version of the Apporto appliance installed on the cluster
The current OS/infrastructure version installed on each node in the cluster
The current Apporto appliance and node infrastructure versions are also displayed in the footer. This is visible from all sections of the On-Premises Cluster Management tool.
Check for updates
Note-Make sure all Nodes are Online before installing Updates.
To see whether there are any updates available for your cluster, click/tap on the Check for Updates button. The button state will change, showing that the update check is in progress.
When the system has completed the update check, it will display the results. If no updates are available, a simple message will display to confirm that the cluster is up to date.
If one or more updates are available, their names and version numbers will display onscreen. The system will automatically begin to download the update packages.
Once the download process is complete, the Install Update button will appear.
Install Update
Click/tap the Install Update button to begin the installation process. Each affected item will show progress by changing its status indicator:
Pending = an update has been downloaded and is ready for installation
Installing = installation is in progress
Installed = installation has successfully completed
If both a node OS/infrastructure update and an Apporto appliance version update are available, the node update will be performed first. The manager node(s) will receive the update and then broadcast it to the worker nodes.
Note-During the Installation after around 5-10Min you will see the following page info, this is just a signal that we have also updated the Appliance\Control Node and it losses the web page connection. This is not an issue but by design, give the process another 5-10Min and then F5 or Refresh the Browser page.
In an event of a Time-out, reboot the Control Node, then after about 3-5Min, re-connect to the Browser IP Address.
If any Nodes are reporting Unknown, reboot these as well, please note to give the Nodes after a reboot a period of at least 5Min before attempting to Retry once again.
Once all Nodes are reporting and seen correctly, proceed to Retry Incomplete Updates:
After the update has been successfully installed on an item, the item’s version number will likewise be updated onscreen. Once all updates are complete, the footer version information will also be updated.
26.4 Release Notes
Updating to the 26.4 Release the following initial Build Info will be displayed:
Perform an additional Check for Updates again and the Node versions should then get updated. Please allow 10-15min for all Nodes to complete the update and Refresh the System Updates page.
If any Nodes after 15min report as Unknown or are not listed in the System Updates page, proceed to reboot the specific Node in question, wait an additional 3-5min for it to come online and then Refresh the page.
If after the Updates have completed or not seeing the above results, please Enable the Support Tunnel as well as open a Support Ticket so the issue can be investigated further.
